MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR

One of the most interesting phenomenons in recent time involved children
and magic: Harry Potter. We can go the rest of our lives and not fully
understand it. Without a doubt, it challenged all conventional logic ...
and it accomplished things that people can't explain.
- It got children to turn off the television
- It actually got children to read
- It got some adults to read who hadn't in years, too
- It's wholesome ... most still catagorize it as children's literature
- It stimulates the imagination
Is this something we really want to abandon? Personally, I don't think so!
Anytime we can get children to use their imagination, that is a good thing. It is so
common today for people - and most concede children are - to want to just sit down
and say, "Entertain Me". We don't have the radio plays that caused us to picture things
in our minds anymore. The question then becomes, "How do we keep the imagination open?"
That is where MAGIC comes in. By it's very nature, a magician's first task
is to allow those watching to open their imaginations and accept that magic might be real.
I've lost track of the number of times a child has asked "can you really ...?" Even the adults
who ask "How did you do that?" are - in many cases - expressing a hope that maybe there is
more than deception.
Why not incorporate a little magic into your child's next special event. Whether they are
teenagers coming out of high school, or grade schoolers just starting out, it makes the
perfect acompanyment to almost any party or celebration.
J. K. Rowlings has said that she's finished with Harry Potter. Now it's up to us to keep the
magic alive. Why not call Michael to provide magic
for your next event.
